01 — The room

One of the oldest buildings in town, and it still feels like a bank vault in the best way.

The shop sits inside a heritage building on Third Avenue West — a former bank, and one of the oldest structures in Prince Rupert. Very high ceilings, exposed brick, and art on the walls. Reviewers keep landing on the same two words: warm and cozy.

It has been serving Prince Rupert since 2009, and it is licensed — so the same counter that pours the morning coffee also does dessert, cocktails, wine and beer later on. There is room to spread out with a laptop, room to bring the kids, and Wi-Fi if you need it. The kitchen is used to working around dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan requests.

02 — The coffee

Made one at a time, from scratch, by someone who knows your order.

01

Espresso, all the usual ways

Americano, cappuccino, latte, mocha. Reviewers describe the coffee as strong and the drinks as made from scratch, one at a time.

02

The sweet end of the board

Chai tea latte and white chocolate mocha both get named by name in customer reviews — creamy, hot, unapologetically sweet.

03

Cold, iced and fizzy

Iced lattes through summer, and Italian sodas in flavours like lime and watermelon. Smoothies too — blueberry banana turns up on the favourites list.

04

Tea, and plenty of it

A tea selection alongside the coffee, hot or iced. Listings note a wide variety of both hot and cold beverages.

No prices here — on purpose

The full drinks board lives above the counter, and it is the shop's to publish. This concept lists only what appears in public listings and customer reviews. Nothing has been invented and nothing has been priced.

03 — The kitchen

Home-style food from around the world, cooked like someone means it.

Lunch here wanders. Soup and a giant sandwich one day, pork buns and a curry the next. Owner Yoriko Yamaguchi brings authentic Japanese home cooking to a menu that also does soup, sandwiches and daily specials.

Soup and sandwiches

Hearty soups and large made-to-order sandwiches — the B.E.L.T. is the one people mention.

The Japanese side

Steamed pork buns, vegetable udon, teriyaki chicken or tofu over rice or salad, and the Peking Javadog.

Curries and daily specials

Curries, Thai sweet chilli tofu, samosas, and a lunch special that changes with whatever the kitchen is chasing.

Baking and sweets

Home-made sweets from the case: muffins, chocolate danishes, cookies and the rest of the day’s baking.

A note on this menu

Everything listed above comes from public directory listings and things customers wrote in reviews. No prices, no specials, nothing invented. On a real build this section would be replaced with the shop's actual menu — and made easy to edit from a phone when the soup changes.

Dietary

Listings note dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan choices across the menu. Worth a phone call if you need something specific.
